Tech Journey
Exploring my experiences in mainframe technology and spiritual growth.

Contury first ATM network - 银联
I participated in the development of the CARS system (Center of Advancing banking Retail Services), the first nationwide ATM and savings network project in China. The system was built on the IBM VSE/SP mainframe environment using Assembler and COBOL, and operated under CICS for real-time online transaction processing. CARS enabled interbank connectivity for ATM withdrawals, savings account access, and centralized settlement across multiple financial institutions. It was a pioneering step in China’s digital banking transformation. That same year, the system was successfully launched in Guangzhou, marking a major milestone in the modernization of the country’s retail banking infrastructure.

VSE implementation and maintenance
My IBM mainframe journey began with the installation of DOS/VSE on an IBM 4361 system. I later upgraded the environment to VSE/SP, which enabled improved system performance and broader application support. I worked on banking applications such as SAFE II, CIF, and ATMP, using COBOL and Assembler on a platform that integrated CICS and DL/I for online and batch processing.
